Over 400 apprentices and trainees, members and non-members, have taken heavy equipment
training from the IUOE Local 115 Training Association.
Students learn how to operate many different pieces of heavy equipment in a real-life
environment at the Maple Ridge Training Facility, a 40-acre site operated by the Training
Association. This state-of-the-art facility also features a facility and heavy equipment inventory
worth more than $3 million and computer simulation equipment. Courses are also offered
in centres around the province.
Experienced and professional instructors provide courses in excavator, backhoe, dozer, grader,
asphalt laydown and aggregate/asphalt plant. We also provide all courses necessary for the BC
Association of Crane Safety ticketing process.
The Training Institute is accredited with Private Career Training Institutions and delivers
programs in accordance with BC’s Industry Training Authority.
Screening and recruitment of new apprentices and trainees is done by training coordinators who
are responsible for providing trade counseling from intake into the programs until completion.
