 OrganizingMembers at Conair help West Coast Air pilots organize (December 2007) By Dave De Sousa, Organizer The organizing staff would like to take this opportunity to welcome to our Local Union the 40 float plane pilots who fly for West Coast Air Ltd. The Canada Industrial Relations Board granted our certification on Sept. 20, 2007, and the collective bargaining process has begun. West Coast Air provides harbour-to-harbour float plane service connecting Vancouver, Victoria, Richmond, Nanaimo and Sechelt. It also provides a charter service to Whistler and various other communities up and down the coast. Special thanks go out to our members flying for Conair Aviation who took the time to encourage the pilots at West Coast Air to contact Local 115. Once again, this demonstrates that when our members get involved in organizing, even by word of mouth alone, our success rate greatly improves. Our union grows bigger and better and we all benefit. Please help out if you can. Live better—organize. |
